Out of the blue – Berluti Main 2019 collection

Perhaps it’s the heat wave of French Riviera in the summer that still linger in my mind, the oceanic blue has been the color that I adored during the past few months; while the weather is still hot, so as the luxury mens fashion too! The new collection has hit the shop floor of each major luxury brands’ boutique, and there’s one fashion wave of oceanic blue that just triggers me immensely right before my eyes, be specific, the Berluti Main 2019 collection actually, which seems like a gentle-reminder for all style conscious and discerning gentlemen that it’s time to refresh their wardrobe after the summer getaway.

With their fashion show held in the historic Parisian opera house, Opéra Garnier, an artistic representation of the classical and experimental arts staged under one roof, this marks the first collection by the fashion house’s artistic director, Kris Van Assche, who interprets the Maison’s signature patina and leather in an innovative way, with a bit of avant-garde, and taking the esteemed leather goods and ready-to-wear of the brand into a fresher and new era.

Featured in numerous appealing items from ready-to-wear, shoes and accessories, with the eye-catching palette ranging from oceanic blue to fushia, steel grey and old-marble-table inspired pattern, added the modernized tailoring technique yet homage to the Maison’s patina legacy, the evidence can be found in each items from the luxurious calfskin and jacquard suiting, overcoat, and even the smart slim trousers. The silhouette is defined, and the shoulder stated but never too controlled; the avant-garde and high fashion details which is relatively refreshing to be seen in the collection, such as the motor-racer inspired trousers, and the slender dress pants with short zipper at the end, the sweater that knitted from a thousand metres of multi-coloured leather strings, and the patina shoes that hand-crafted in sculptural caps recalling the facades of diamonds, these are something noteworthy that makes their Fall Winter collection such intriguing, at the same time, it still captures the luxuriousness, with the artistic essence of leather patina, modernity and comfortable for a modern style-savvy gentleman.
