New retro-classic – CODE41 Moon INCEPTION timepiece, Lausanne

Dear readers, a couple of weeks ago I received an invitation to a prestigious watch event, but ironically, the invite is pretty secretive as there isn’t any exact information says what this event is about! While my mind was filled with certain excitement and confusion at the same time (is this invite a prank?), I started to realize that I haven’t write anything about luxury timepiece for quite a while! And the time finally comes when I came across a distinctive new watch named Moon INCEPTION, created by an emerging Swiss luxury watch brand, CODE41; its unique design, the sleek modernity, and its classic-leans-towards-outdoor masculinity appeal just caught my eyes for some reason, which intrigues me to dive deep into this watch-making house and this new luxury timepiece.

CODE41 was founded by Mr. Claudio D’Amore, who has more than a decade’s experience on designing watches for some of the most prestigious brands out there, from Parmigiani Fleurier, Montblanc to Oris etc. which just a name of a few, he decided to branch out on his own and establish CODE41 in 2016 through crowdfunding platform Kickstarter. With its unique design, audacity and hard work, the brand started to gain its popularity organically and having a group of timepiece enthusiasts to appreciate and follow his work. The latest model – Moon INCEPTION, is the combination of innovation, modernity and new masculine chic in this single piece of precious luxury timepiece, the best way to start appreciating this work of art, is take a look with its movement first, it was built on the C41-MP, a Swiss movement modified by CODE41 on the base of a Sellita architecture renowned for its robustness and reliability, to make this movement unique, the Swiss watchmaking factory AJS has been commissioned to create one of the most realistic moon disks and an oscillating weight that’s exclusive to this movement.

Under the polished convex sapphire crystal, the distinctive dial becomes the focal point of this watch, the grained texture background makes one to think of the lunar surface, while the intertwined rings evoke its craters. The moon and date circles form an “8”, which this number symbolizes infinity, authenticity and the power of engagement. The satinated steel 316L case in pillow-like shape that contrasts with the clear convex sapphire crystal together, which gives a certain poetic and retro-classical touch to the overall look. With its power reserve at 41-hour, it is available in either cushioned-leather straps in driving glove holes design, or satinated steel bracelet, Moon INCEPTION is the luxury timepiece stands out from the rest of conventional sports watch design, and possibly one of the most special design of the year, it’s relatively versatile from either as office wear with one’s impeccable tailoring suit, or an outdoor adventurous activity in a more dress-down, masculine look in leather jacket and smart denim.

This new Moon INCEPTION will be open for pre-order starting in 25th Jan 2024, the first full moon of 2024, until 23rd Feb 2024 as a full lunar cycle, with deliveries are estimated around Sept 2024.
